Eligibility
1. The Gazelle Sports Cup is open for girls and boys ages 7-12. The competitors will be split on the basis of gender and age (numbers permitting). Age classifications are based upon the athlete’s age as of December 31 of the current year.
2. All athletes competing must have either a birth certificate or other official document proving their age. Failure to provide such a document at registration will result in ineligibility.
3. All participants must submit a signed parental entry form and release of liability to Gazelle Sports prior to or by the date of the competition.
4. Each athlete must be in attendance at the scheduled starting time for the competition in order to compete. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
Scoring
1. Scores are calculated differently for each activity. Scoring breaks down in varying increments depending on the time, speed and number of goals recorded in each activity. When time is recorded, each participant's score will be rounded to the nearest second. Example: If the athlete finishes the agility station in 52.7 seconds, the recorded score will be 53 seconds.
2. An athlete's final score is a cumulative total for the five different individual events. Example: If the athlete scores 20 points in the Dribbling Gauntlet, 35 points in the Agility Station, 40 points in the Accuracy Shooting, 15 points in the Arc Shooting and 20 points in the Around the World Gauntlet, that participant's final score is 130 points.
3. If an athlete tries to shoot a ball and misses the ball completely, it does not count as an attempt and the athlete is permitted to try again.
Bylaws
1. Only soccer cleats, turf shoes or gym/running shoes will be allowed during the course of the competition. No baseball or football cleats are permitted. In addition, an athlete will not be
allowed to compete in any event barefoot. Failure to wear proper shoes will result in the disqualification of that participant.
2. All equipment needed for the competition, excluding shoes, will be provided by the event staff and Gazelle Sports. Athletes will not be permitted to use their own equipment such as soccer balls, nets, or cones. The official time for each athlete will be recorded by each station's worker(s) and stopwatch. The time recorded for each athlete at specific stations is non-negotiable.
3. Athletes ages 7-10 will use a size 4 soccer ball. Athletes ages 11-12 will use a size 5 ball.
Tie Breakers
1. If a tie exists for first, second or third place at any age level, those participants involved will have three opportunities to juggle an age-appropriate soccer ball as many times as they can
using any body part excluding hands and arms. Each time a ball is struck counts as one toward the total number acquired.
Miscellaneous
1. The Gazelle Sports Cup will be held in rain or shine. Gazelle Sports holds authority to cancel in the event of threatening or dangerous weather conditions. If the event is cancelled, there
will be no make-up or rescheduling. There will be no refund upon cancellation due to threatening or dangerous weather conditions.
2. Participation in the Gazelle Sports Cup constitutes permission to use each athlete's name and picture for potential promotional use without compensation.
3. All parents of athletes must sign the entry/release of liability form before the athlete will be allowed to participate in the Gazelle Sports Cup.
